Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Edgar Finance (the app at app.edgarfinance.it and this website) collects, why it uses it, who it shares it with and what rights you have. It is a translation of the Italian version, which prevails in case of any discrepancy.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Andrea Panfilo, Rome, Italy. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, write to a.panfilo130@gmail.com.

What data we collect

• Account data, when you sign up: username, first and last name, email address, date of birth (to check that you are an adult), your newsletter choice and the date you accepted the terms. Your password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form: nobody can read it.
• Data you enter in the app, if you use an account: portfolios, transactions, watchlist and settings, so you can find them on all your devices.
• Edgar Pro data: if you join the free beta, the date you joined and whether you want an email when the paid version launches. If you subscribe in the future, the codes identifying your customer account and subscription at Stripe (not your card details, which never pass through our servers).
• Feedback you send from the app, linked to your username if you are signed in.
• Technical data: like any online service, our servers log technical information such as IP address and request times, for operation and security.

Some data stays only on your device, in the browser's storage: price alerts, display preferences and, if you don't use an account, your portfolios and watchlist too. We do not use advertising cookies or profiling tools.

Why we use it and on what legal basis

• To provide the service (account, sync, Edgar Pro, password recovery): necessary to perform the contract you accept when signing up.
• To send you the newsletter or the Edgar Pro launch notice: only if you asked for it, based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Security and abuse prevention: based on our legitimate interest in protecting the service and its users.
• Legal obligations, for example tax obligations for payments.

Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We only entrust it to the providers we need to run Edgar, who process it on our behalf:

• Render (Render Services, Inc., United States): hosts the app, the server and the database.
• Resend (United States): sends service emails, such as password reset emails.
• Stripe (Ireland and United States): handles any Edgar Pro payments.
• Google Fonts (Google, United States): provides some of the app's typefaces, and receives your device's IP address to do so.

Some of these providers are based or have servers outside the European Union. In those cases the transfer takes place with the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Market data (prices, charts, news) comes from external providers that our server queries without sending your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep account data for as long as the account exists. You can delete it at any time from the app (account menu → “Elimina account”): your data is erased immediately, except for data the law requires us to keep longer (for example tax data related to a payment). Data stored only on your device is under your control: you can erase it by clearing the site's data in your browser.

Your rights

At any time you can ask us to:

• access your data and receive a copy;
• correct it if it is wrong;
• erase it, together with your account;
• restrict or object to its use;
• receive it in a readable format to take it elsewhere (portability);
• withdraw any consent you gave us, without affecting what was done before.

To do so, write to a.panfilo130@gmail.com: we reply within 30 days. If you believe your data is being handled unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority of the EU country where you live.

Minors

Edgar Finance is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect data from people under 18.

Changes

If we make important changes to this policy, we will let you know in the app. The date at the top shows the latest version.
